Transportation Climate Initiative Bill - H4912 Strongly Oppose

The House recently passed a new "Transportation Climate Initiative (TCI)" bill (H4912) by a vote of 142-17. You probably didn't hear about it since it was released last week with no notice and passed late Friday. Surprising, since it's one of the largest tax increases the state of Massachusetts has ever produced. Don't be fooled by its unassuming name - TCI is a tax. And since the the House voted to relinquish its legislative authority to unelected bureaucrats on matters of taxation and regulations related to TCI, future tax increases will be on autopilot - NO further legislative vote needed. This bill allows the Governor to proceed with enrolling Massachusetts into TCI without further legislative approval - future administrations will be able to simply bypass the legislature to impose new regulations and taxes. The unemployment rate in the Commonwealth stands at 17.4% - the highest in the nation. Increasing taxes on gas and carbon will cause additional financial burden on working class families in Massachusetts. I strongly oppose H4912 because it will cause financial hardships to the middle class who are already overtaxed and allows bureaucrats to make decisions without a legislative vote. We need a common sense, rational thinking Representative in the Massachusetts house. I respectfully ask for your vote on November 3rd. Thank you very much. Sincerely, Robert May 13th Essex District State Representative Candidate Danvers, Peabody, Middleton
